Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU) is one of the leading medical universities in Tbilisi, Georgia. It was established in 1918 and is the largest medical university in Georgia and Eastern Europe. The university was previously known as Tbilisi State University (TSU), and in 1992, the name was changed from Tbilisi State Medical Institute to Tbilisi State Medical University. Since its establishment, the university has graduated over 40,000 doctors, along with more than 500 administrative staff and 1,000 academic professors.

The classrooms at Tbilisi State Medical University are equipped with the latest teaching techniques. The university has advanced libraries and scientific nursing laboratories to assist students during their study period. TSMU is the fourth higher education institution out of 55 universities in Georgia, with approximately 7,500 undergraduate students and 3,000 postgraduate students, including 25% from foreign countries.

University Accreditation

Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU) has obtained accreditation from the Ministry of Education in Georgia and has received international accreditation for its Language Center. In 2014, the Language Center became a member of the Association of Language Centers and Language Teaching Institutes in Europe (AKS). This accreditation allows TSMU’s Language Center to issue internationally recognized certificates in English, enabling students to participate in international exchange programs and undergo professional practice worldwide.
