Founded in 1992 by Petre Shotadze, a distinguished Georgian pediatrician and surgeon, Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) became his lifelong dedication after graduating from Tbilisi State Medical University in 1970. He progressed from being a postgraduate student to becoming the head of pediatric surgery and eventually the university president. In 1999, after Dr. Shotaadze’s demise, the name of the institution was changed to “Petre Shotaadze Tbilisi Medical Academy” in his honor. Since its establishment, TMA has graduated over 2,500 students who have found successful employment opportunities in leading hospitals, universities, and scientific centers both within and outside Georgia.
As one of the first private medical colleges in Georgia, Peter Shotaadze Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) offers two educational programs in medicine (in English and Georgian) over a duration of six years. With 30 years of experience, the university boasts a highly qualified academic staff who provide medical education in accordance with international regulations and standards. The academic team at the university has been trained in the United States and Western European countries.
